1. Acceptance and scope
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site. These terms apply to the public website, any Kakure Pixel Studio download, and the browser-based Hidden Japan Companion unless a specific product states different terms.
This is a public information site. Hidden Japan is a 112-page paperback published on September 1, 2026. Purchase links lead to Amazon, where current prices, availability, and transaction terms apply.
2. Personal use and prohibited conduct
Kakure Pixel Studio grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to access the site and use materials made available to you for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment.
You must not:
- resell, publish, upload, distribute, sublicense, or commercially exploit site materials;
- share restricted download links, remove notices, or present studio work as your own;
- circumvent access controls or probe, disrupt, overload, or damage the site;
- use automated extraction to build a competing collection or dataset, except ordinary search indexing;
- use the site for unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or harmful activity.
3. Intellectual property and messages
Unless otherwise stated, the website design, text, illustrations, pixel artwork, puzzles, symbols, layouts, downloads, brand names, and logos are owned by or licensed to Kakure Pixel Studio and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. No ownership transfers to you under these terms.
You retain ownership of content you send in an inquiry. You give Kakure Pixel Studio permission to read, store, and use that content as reasonably necessary to respond, provide support, protect the site, and meet legal obligations. Do not send confidential, highly sensitive, or unlawful material through ordinary email.
4. Free Starter and Hidden Japan Companions
Free Starter
When the Free Starter becomes available, it will be licensed to the recipient for personal use. You may print reasonable copies for your own use, but may not resell, upload, redistribute, package, or share the files or delivery link with others. The current review form does not deliver a file or create an email subscription.
The optional Starter Pack Companion covers eight Starter Puzzles. It shares My Pen Palette with the printed-book Companion in the same browser, while Starter progress and Reveal history remain separate. It does not include Print Again or an automatic review request.
Companion
Companion access is intended for book purchasers through the QR code beside each Puzzle or the matching four-character backup code printed with it. Each code opens only its corresponding Puzzle; there is no common code that opens the whole book. Scanned Puzzle access, My Pen Palette, prepared-pen choices, and puzzle progress are stored in that browser. They are not a cloud account or backup and may be lost when browser data is cleared, a browser is replaced, or another device is used. Kakure Pixel Studio cannot retrieve or restore browser-local data.
Print Again
After revealing an eligible Puzzle, the Companion may provide one personal-use printable PDF for that same Puzzle. You may print reasonable copies for your own non-commercial coloring, including on paper you prefer. Do not resell, redistribute, publicly upload, or share the file or its restricted download access. A review, survey, email signup, or proof of completion is not required to use Print Again.
5. Third-party sites, purchases, and affiliate links
Links may lead to independent services such as Amazon. Their terms, privacy notices, availability, prices, payment processing, delivery, returns, and customer support apply to transactions completed there. Kakure Pixel Studio does not receive your payment-card details from a normal Amazon purchase and is not responsible for an external site's content or operation.
No affiliate links are active on this site as of the effective date. Future commission relationships will be disclosed clearly. See the Affiliate Disclosure.
6. Availability, disclaimers, and liability
The site and its materials are provided on an “as available” basis. Kakure Pixel Studio may correct, update, suspend, or remove content or features. We do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free content, permanent availability, or an exact match between screen colors, printers, paper, pens, and finished results.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kakure Pixel Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of device-local Companion data, arising from use of or inability to use the site. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
7. Changes, governing law, and contact
These terms may be updated as the site and products develop. The date at the top identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply from their effective date.
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without overriding mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Japan that have jurisdiction under applicable law, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
